Job summary

Cisco’s Automation and Configuration Management (ACM) team leads the configuration platform powering Splunk Enterprise Cloud environments across AWS, GCP, Azure, and GovCloud. This role shapes architecture, investments, and build-versus-buy decisions for a scalable, reliable cloud platform.

You will mentor engineers, drive major initiatives, and ensure high operational excellence while collaborating across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelors + 8 years of related experience, or Masters + 6 years of related experience, or PhD + 3 years of related experience
• Experience in building and operating large-scale production systems with fluency in Go and/or Python
• Applied experience designing resilient, scalable distributed systems in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or GovCloud
• Prior experience with configuration and infrastructure as code tools like Puppet, Terraform, or Ansible at scale
• Applied experience leading major technical initiatives and influencing engineering direction beyond immediate teams

Responsibilities

• Set the long-term technical direction for ACM’s configuration platform
• Lead and deliver complex, high-impact projects spanning configuration delivery, disaster recovery, fleet management, and platform reliability
• Establish standards for code quality, system design, observability, and operational excellence
• Mentor engineers across levels to accelerate growth through code reviews and coaching
• Own production reliability by providing technical judgment during major incidents
