Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience as substitute.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services and core Microsoft infrastructure.
• Experience with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools like PowerShell and Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support for Azure and core Microsoft services (AD, DNS, MECM, SCOM).
• Respond to requests and incidents; troubleshoot and escalate complex issues.
• Perform routine Azure deployments (VMs, VNets, storage) using best practices.
• Monitor performance, availability, and cost with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
• Develop and execute automation and IaC with PowerShell and Terraform.
• Support IT service management processes (requests, changes, docs).
• Maintain technical docs and knowledge base for ops.
• Assist with security, access reviews, audits, remediation.
• Participate in continuous improvement of cloud infra reliability and security.

The Opportunity:

The UCF IT department within University Operations is seeking a Cloud Computing Engineer I to join the Enterprise Infrastructure team and support the administration, maintenance, and optimization of cloud-based and Microsoft infrastructure services. This position plays a key role in supporting the university's Microsoft Azure environment and core infrastructure technologies, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient operations that support academic, research, and administrative functions across the institution.

Responsibilities:

• Provide operational support for Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and core Microsoft services, including Active Directory, DNS, MECM, and SCOM.
• Respond to service requests and incidents, troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues, and upscale complex problems as needed.
• Perform routine Azure deployments, including virtual machines, virtual networks, storage accounts, and other cloud resources using established standards and best practices.
• Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, availability, and cost metrics using tools such as Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
• Develop, maintain, and execute automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions utilizing PowerShell, Terraform, and related technologies.
• Support IT service management processes, including request fulfillment, change management, documentation, and operational procedures
• Maintain technical documentation, standards, and knowledge base resources to support operational excellence and team collaboration
• Assist with infrastructure security and compliance activities, including access reviews, audit support, and remediation efforts.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the reliability, scalability, and security of cloud infrastructure services

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure technologies, including Active Directory, DNS, MECM, and SCOM.
• Experience with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as PowerShell and Terraform.
• Foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts and enterprise infrastructure technologies.
