Job summary

Render is hiring a Software Engineer for Compute Infrastructure to own and evolve our cloud compute platform across multiple regions and providers. You will work on Kubernetes-driven orchestration, micro VM architecture, and self-healing of large-scale distributed systems, shaping reliability and performance at scale.

You’ll collaborate across teams to automate infrastructure, implement robust control planes, and drive reliability as Render expands to new regions and hyperscalers.

Qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
• Experience with microVMs, controllers and operators
• Automation and self-healing of large-scale distributed systems

Responsibilities

• Own Render’s core compute infrastructure across multiple cloud providers, regions, and data centers.
• Design and build capabilities that give users greater performance and flexibility in how their services are built, deployed, perform, and stay available even when underlying resources go down.
• Investigate challenging cloud and compute issues across the stack—from the kernel and data plane to the Kubernetes cluster and control plane.
• Improve performance and reliability of infrastructure through profiling, experimentation, and tuning.
• Collaborate with engineers to build a stable, predictable, and secure platform.
• Participate in on-call rotation and continuously improve incident detection and response.
