The Aerospace Corporation seeks an Engineering Manager – Cloud Computing Architecture to lead CAS Cloud Solutions Architects in designing, migrating, and maturing cloud systems for DoD, IC, and civilian customers. You’ll drive architecture strategy, mentor engineers, and ensure secure, cost-efficient outcomes.

The role requires strong leadership, hands-on cloud experience, and collaboration with program offices and other departments while travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of experience with cloud systems and related technologies.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams and complex tasks.
• Ability to translate customer needs into actionable engineering work.
• Experience with at least one public cloud vendor.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Cloud Architecture & Strategy Section within CPAD.
• Advise customers on design, migration, and cloud optimization.
• Develop staff through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
• Interface with government customers and other departments on cloud initiatives.
• Perform Analysis of Alternatives for cloud solutions and plan migrations.

CPAD’s overall goal is to stay at the forefront of cloud technology to enable our customers to effectively leverage this technology to fulfill their mission needs. CPAD’s Cloud Architecture & Strategy (CAS) team works with customers to help them deploy cloud systems that are well architected to meet their operational requirements and strategic goals. We are looking for an Engineering Manager (Engineering Manager – Cloud Computing Architecture) to lead this team of CAS Cloud Solution Architects to advise customers on how to properly architect, migrate, and evolve cloud systems.Work ModelOn Site : This position requires full-time onsite presence in Chantilly, VA . This team is responsible for advising customers on how to design , implement, and maintain cloud architectures and strategies that are resilient, performant, efficient, secure, and cost effective.Build a talented organization of C loud S olutions A rchitects through recruiting, hiring, and on-boarding new staffDevelop staff through performance management, evaluation, coaching, and mentoringPromote a n innovative c ulture , maintain team mora le, and monitor individual well-being and job satisfactionManage overall capabilities of the section , paying attention to health/status and adapting capabilities as customer needs evolveObtain, manage, and tailor cloud technology work assignments to staff skillsetsEnsure the technical quality of staff work productsAcquire necessary resources and make inter-organizational connections to enable staff to execute work efficientlyInterface with program office and government customers, other corporate support organizations, and other ETG departmentsCollaborate with cloud department management and management in other departments (e.g., cybersecurity, data, AI)Execute business administration functions (e.g., budget, resource allocation)In addition to leadership and management functions, act as a technical leader and contributor:Advise customers on best practices to design, implement, and maintain cloud architectures and strategies that are resilient, performant, efficient, secure, and cost effectiveResearch cutting edge cloud technologies and develop prototypes to demonstrate and benchmark their capabilitiesReview customer cloud architectures and provide feedback on areas of improvementParticipate in deep technical discussions with government, contractors, and cloud vendors to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in cloudPerform Analysis of Alternatives ( AoAs ) on multiple cloud solutions to help government space customers make more informed decisionsProvide guidance on how to properly plan and execute cloud migrationsWhat You Need to be Successful – Engineering Manager – Cloud Computing ArchitectureMinimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related STEM fieldAt least 6 years of experience working with cloud systems a nd related technologiesDemonstrated experience leading engineering teams, coordinating complex technical tasks among team members, and translating customer needs into viable instructions for engine ersDemonstrated ability to initiate and complete tasks, learn new technical approaches, and interact effectively with a broad range of organizationsDemonstrated ability to create a positive team culture, mentor team members, and work effectively with multidisciplinary teamsHands on experience with at least one public cloud vendor (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).Experience in designing, developing, implement ing, operating , and evolving cloud systems to support customersWilling to travel occasionally to work location or customer site approx. 10%, if required .This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.
