Job summary

SteerBridge Strategies is seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to design secure, scalable AWS GovCloud architectures for a mission-critical Defense Aviation platform used by federal customers. This role owns the technical blueprint and guides engineers through delivery in a hybrid Vienna, VA setting.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of cloud experience, including 3+ years in an architecture or lead engineering role.
• Deep expertise designing AWS solutions across compute, networking, storage, and IAM.
• Strong command of the AWS Well‑Architected Framework and secure cloud design patterns.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation) and CI/CD at scale.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, identity, and network segmentation.
• Ability to produce clear architecture documentation and present to technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Experience leading delivery across multidisciplinary teams.

SteerBridge is seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to design the secure, scalable AWS GovCloud architecture behind a mission‑critical Defense Aviation platform used by federal customers. This role owns the technical blueprint for environments that support fleet readiness monitoring, maintenance planning, logistics coordination, and operational decision‑making.

The architect will work directly with engineers, security architects, data scientists, and product owners to translate mission requirements into well‑architected cloud solutions that are secure, resilient, compliant, and cost‑effective.

Unlike a purely advisory role, this position stays close to implementation. The ideal candidate can produce architecture and design documentation, prototype solutions, set standards for infrastructure as code, and guide engineering teams through delivery.

SteerBridge applies proven patterns—well‑architected design, hardened and STIG‑aligned baselines, Medallion data architecture, and automated CI/CD to deliver platforms that meet DoD security and authorization expectations. The architect ensures these patterns are applied consistently across the environment.

This is a hybrid position based in Vienna, VA.

Solution Architecture and Design

• Design secure, scalable AWS GovCloud architectures for aviation analytics and operational workloads
• Produce architecture diagrams, design documents, and technical decision records
• Define standards for networking, identity, compute, storage, and data services
• Apply AWS Well‑Architected principles across reliability, security, performance efficiency, and cost
• Evaluate trade‑offs and make technology selections aligned with mission and compliance needs

Security and Compliance by Design

• Embed least‑privilege IAM, encryption, segmentation, and hardened baselines into every design
• Partner with security architects to align solutions with DoD and DISA frameworks and authorization requirements
• Design for auditability, logging, and continuous monitoring from the outset

Implementation Guidance

• Set standards for infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines
• Guide and review engineering implementation to ensure fidelity to the design
• Prototype and validate new patterns and services before broad adoption
• Lead architecture and design reviews

Collaboration and Strategy

• Translate mission and product requirements into technical roadmaps
• Partner with data teams to align platform architecture with Medallion data patterns
• Advise stakeholders and subject matter experts on cloud strategy, modernization, and risk

Requirements

• 6+ years of cloud experience, including 3+ years in an architecture or lead engineering role
• Deep expertise designing AWS solutions across compute, networking, storage, and IAM
• Strong command of the AWS Well‑Architected Framework and secure cloud design patterns
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation) and CI/CD at scale

• Experience leading delivery across multidisciplinary teams

Preferred

• Experience architecting in AWS GovCloud or other federal or regulated environments
• Familiarity with DoD and DISA compliance, STIG hardening, and ATO and authorization processes
• Experience with data platform and Medallion architecture for analytics workloads
• Experience with deploying containerized application workloads, hybrid networking and DNS
• AWS Professional‑level certification such as Solutions Architect Professional
• Experience supporting aviation, defense, logistics, or fleet management systems
