We are seeking an experienced AWS Architect to serve as the Lead Technical resource for a team of Public Cloud Engineers based offshore. This individual will also act as a backup technical lead for our OpenShift team, providing coverage during PTO, sickness, or other absences. This role requires strong technical depth in AWS architecture, hands-on OpenShift experience, and excellent communication skills to support a distributed engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Lead Technical resource for a team of offshore Public Cloud Engineers, providing architectural guidance, technical mentorship, and day-to-day operational oversight.
- Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud architecture with a strong focus on operational stability and reliability.
- Act as backup technical lead for the OpenShift team, stepping in to provide coverage and technical direction as needed.
- Partner with distributed/offshore engineers across time zones, ensuring smooth handoffs, clear communication, and consistent technical standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across AWS and OpenShift environments in production settings.
- Communicate technical decisions and project status clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience architecting and operating AWS environments (architecture-level certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect preferred).
- Demonstrated experience with Red Hat OpenShift — deployment, administration, and/or troubleshooting in a production environment.
- Experience leading or providing technical direction to a team of engineers, ideally including offshore or distributed teams.
- Strong operational mindset — comfortable with day-to-day management, incident response, and ongoing support, not just greenfield design.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience acting as a backup or secondary technical lead for another team or platform.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
- Experience with containerization and Kubernetes-based platforms.
- Prior experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., financial services, healthcare) is a plus.
