Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a seasoned technical leader to build and run our Cloud Security and AI Security functions and the engineering team. This role defines strategy, drives execution, and ensures strong security outcomes across AWS, Azure, and emerging AI/ML platforms.

You will combine deep hands-on technical expertise with people leadership, and partner with engineering, data science, and platform teams to enable secure, scalable innovation at pace in Austin, Texas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 8 years' experience in information security or technology, or 12 years with HS diploma/GED.
• 5+ years leading technical security teams.
• Deep hands-on experience securing AWS and Azure environments at enterprise scale.
• Strong knowledge of Cloud IAM, networking, encryption, monitoring, and logging.
• Experience securing AI/ML systems and platforms.
• Experience with cloud security tooling, posture management, and controls development.

Responsibilities

• Security Strategy — develop information security strategy, roadmaps, and direction; lead change management and resource planning.
• Program Management — monitor information security teams and technologies; implement complex solutions and process improvements.
• Managerial Functions — set expectations, manage policies and staff performance, possibly budgeting or vendor management.
• Security Resource — act as a consultative resource; create standards and provide training to protect bank assets.
