Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan in Monroe, MI seeks a Textile Inspector to examine textiles for quality, securely remove items from containers, and prepare them for the next station in the flow. This position contributes directly to apparel sales and store efficiency within our retail network.

The role supports production standards, safety rules, and CARF-related documentation as needed. Evening and weekend availability may be required to meet store goals and assist customers while

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in sales is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Secures textiles from container.
  • Thoroughly examines condition and determines whether product goes to hanging or salvage.
  • Meets or exceeds goals and standards of production and quality.
  • Accomplishes assigned cleaning routine.
  • Assists in the training of workers and consumers in cooperation with the Workforce Development Department staff.
  • CARF: Ensure documentation and compliance with CARF standards.
  • Safety: Maintain applicable safety standards, rules, and regulations in areas of responsibility.
  • Outcome Driven: Have S.M.A.R.T objectives to drive performance and improve Goodwill's value to the community.
  • Stakeholder Focused: Work with integrity and provide exemplary customer services to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Accountability: Have key metrics that drive performance taking a leadership role in maximizing the social and financial return of the community resources invested in Goodwill.
  • Financial Stability: Utilize the resources of the organization in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Strategic Visioning: Commitment to innovation, continuous learning, and leading change in creating community value.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrate a genuine interest in serving the needs of others and a positive attitude toward the community, co-workers, and individuals we serve. Represent the organization to the public with a courteous, helpful and business-like attitude.

Education And/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience in sales is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Able to stand for two hours at a time over a period spanning up to eight hours.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends some holidays.
Physical Demands And Work Environment

Must be able to bend, stretch, and reach, and lift up to 40 pounds, walking or standing to a significant degree, and be able to move large boxes, furniture, and other heavy items.
