Job summary

GE Vernova, Inc. in North Dakota seeks a closing operator for wind turbine blade manufacturing. You will follow work instructions, operate cranes, and perform laminate repairs to prepare shells for final closure.

The role requires physical capability (lifting 40 lbs), PPE use, and teamwork in a manufacturing setting. Shift is Mon-Fri 6am-2:30pm, with base pay disclosed below.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or related experience.
• Previous Manufacturing experience.
• Experience with wind turbine blades or composites.

Responsibilities

• Perform closing tasks following work instructions.
• Wear PPE and follow safety rules for chemical usage.
• Remove infusion bag from shells using crane.
• Transport shells between molds using crane.
• Repair, cut and grind laminate defects.
• Prepare shells for closure and clean debris.
• Apply glue to flanges and web and crane to close mold.
• Secure root ring and stay bolts after mould closes.

Job Description Summary

Perform a variety of tasks to perform the closing function of wind turbine manufacturing safely and efficiently.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform closing tasks following work instructions
• Wear all personal protective equipment and follow all health and safety instructions regarding chemical usage
• Remove infusion bag from shells using crane
• Transport shells from one mold to closing area using crane
• Repair, cut and grind all laminate defects
• Prepare shells for closure – vacuum all debris in shells, side grind flange area, apply brackets, mark up all areas
• When shells are repaired and prepped, apply glue to flanges and web and crane operator lifts mold to close
• After mould has been closed, remove root plate and fasten root ring on the root of the finished mould. Fasten with stay bolts.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to lift of carry objects or materials up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to push/pull heavy objects.
• Ability to stand for extended periods on concrete floors.
• Ability to work with hands for an extended period.
• Ability to operate basic hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery.
• Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
• Requires wearing of respirator.

Desired Characteristics

Position Shift: Mon-Fri 6am-2:30pm

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the base pay for this position is $22.88-$27.50.
