Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Safety Attendant to assist the registered nurse in maintaining a safe patient environment. You will stay at the patient's bedside, monitor safety, and assist with hygiene under supervision.

The role emphasizes rapid reporting of concerns, adherence to nurse instructions, and ensuring patient comfort and safety through attentive observation and compliant care delivery.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• High School diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Stay no more than arm's length from the patient at all times.
• Notify the nurse if you need to leave the bedside.
• Complete the Close/Intensive Observation Records as directed.
• Keep bed rails in the position directed by the nurse.
• Keep bed in the lowest possible position.
• Call bell within reach and call for assistance when needed.
• Remove sharp objects from patient reach as directed.
• Prevent patient from pulling out tubes/dressings; explain necessity.
• Report any unusual behavior or comments to the nurse.
• Assist with hygiene and toileting under nurse supervision.
• Identify patient needs and adapt care to age/culture/language needs.
