Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support continuity of care in a busy clinic. You will register patients, verify insurance, schedule visits and answer calls, while assisting with patient assessments and preparing exam rooms.

You will collect specimens, provide patient education, and support physicians, patients and families. Prior CMA certification and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and CMA certification.
• Minimum one year clinic experience; phlebotomy and customer service preferred.
• Typing, word processing, computer and telephone skills preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

Qualifications

Acts as collaborative member of the clinical team in providing continuity of and quality patient care. Responsible for registration, insurance verification, scheduling, and answering of telephone. Initiates patient care assessments, gathers vital signs, prepares patient and exam room for procedures, and collects specimens. Provides patient education and support as needed to assist physician, patient and family. Returns patient phone calls.

Education:

High school diploma or GED required. Must be a Certified Medical Assistant.

Experience:

Minimum of one year clinic experience in clinic setting. Phlebotomy experience preferred. Previous customer service experience preferred. Typing, word processing, computer, and telephone skills preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities:

Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to use computer, fax machine and copy machine. Must be detail oriented and work well in a team environment. Experience with GPMS/EMR is desired. BCLS must be received within the orientation period.
