Clive Patient Access Representative I - 1st Shift

Description

Performs outpatient and inpatient registrations, including financial clearance tasks. Collects patient payments, provides information to hospital users, patients, families, and physician offices. Ensures patients meet financial requirements such as Medicare necessity, payer pre-certifications, and referrals. Delivers excellent customer service and communicates effectively to maximize patient flow and satisfaction.

Shift: Day Shift

Essential Functions:

  • Greet patients, enter data into the tracking system, and distribute information per hospital policy.
  • Identify or create patient records, validate demographic info, and review for accuracy.
  • Understand insurance requirements, verify eligibility, and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Verify physician scripts and handle insurance documentation and consents.
  • Utilize hospital systems to identify errors, resolve them timely, and process payments and deposits.
  • Assist with financial counseling and distribute information on the No Surprises Act.
  • Coordinate with clinical teams, manage downtime protocols, and ensure registration accuracy.
  • Participate in educational activities and performance improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1+ year experience in hospital or clinic registration.
  • HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and insurance verification.
  • Excellent communication, multi-tasking, and customer service skills.

Physical and Mental Requirements: Office environment, frequent communication, manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 15 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment.
