Job summary

Bridges Healthcare, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Clinician IPV-FAIR in our Family Centered Services Division in New Haven. You will provide clinical assessment, curriculum-based psychotherapy, and psychoeducation to caregivers involved in intimate partner violence.

Services aim to strengthen families and reduce exposure to violence. Responsibilities include home/community/office visits, comprehensive assessments, and writing individualized treatment plans.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field required.
  • Associate degree required; LMSW/LMFTA/LPCA licenses preferred.
  • Minimum two years of counseling experience.

Responsibilities

Bridges Healthcare, Inc., has an immediate opening for a Clinician IPV-FAIR (Intimate Partner Violence - Family Assessment Intervention Response) in our Family Centered Services Division in New Haven.

Salary: $58,600 - $63,856, commensurate of experience

PURPOSE and POSITION OVERVIEW

The IPV-FAIR Clinician provides clinical assessment, curriculum-based psychotherapy, and psychoeducation to caregivers who have been involved in intimate partner violence. Goals of the service include strengthening parent-child relationships, increasing emotion regulation and communication skills, and reducing exposure of children to intimate partner violence. Services are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centered.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Meet with clients in their homes, the community, or the agency office to provide an array of clinical services to all caregivers in families experiencing domestic violence.
  • Provide clinical services which are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centered.
  • Foster therapeutic alliances and maintain a non-judgmental stance with all caregivers from DV-impacted families, including those who have experienced abuse and those who have caused harm.
  • Facilitate family engagement and employ Motivational Interviewing techniques (training available).
  • Perform full assessment of family, including children, in order to write comprehensive case assessment and formulate individualized treatment plan.
  • Administer clinical curriculum appropriate to client needs (either Fathers for Change or Mothers and More) which includes CBT-based interventions for emotion regulation, reflective functioning work, communication skill-building and psychoeducation.
  • Conduct occasional dyadic therapy sessions including parent-child dyads and caregiver dyads as appropriate.
  • Provide individual counseling, psychoeducation, and referrals as needed.
  • Maintain flexible work hours to accommodate family needs, including occasional evenings as needed, with late hours being flexed out elsewhere during pay period.
  • Collaborate with DCF staff assigned to client families.
  • Attend staff meetings, provider meetings, group supervisions, and other required meetings and trainings.
  • Complete thorough, accurate and timely documentation and maintain complete case records.
  • Attend regularly scheduled (one hour per week) 1:1 supervision with IPV-FAIR Program Director, who holds an LCSW.
  • Collaborate closely with family navigators assigned to families on your caseload.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines in all correspondence and documentation.
  • Attend educational trainings in related areas and maintain licensure.
  • Perform any other reasonably related duties as assigned by the Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy or related field required.

Associate Degree required, LMSW, LMFTA, LPCA

Minimum two years experience in a counseling setting required.

Understanding of issues related to trauma, child abuse prevention, family violence and systems advocacy preferred.

Ability to work with diverse individuals.

Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Access to reliable transportation on a consistent basis, valid driver's license and auto insurance.
