Job summary

Basecamp Recovery Center in Columbus, OH is seeking a licensed Counselor to support clients on their recovery journey. You will conduct clinical assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and provide both individual and group counseling services to promote sobriety and well-being.

This role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, adherence to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, and travel between multiple facilities.

Qualifications

• Education and licensure required for Ohio clinical practice.
• Experience with substance use disorders or co-occurring conditions preferred.
• Knowledge of confidentiality laws (42 CFR Part 2) and HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and ASAM level of care determinations.
• Deliver individual and group counseling using evidence-based modalities.
• Develop SMART treatment goals and monitor progress with clients.
• Coordinate care with external providers and document in EHR daily.

You will conduct clinical assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and provide both individual and group counseling services. Your goal will be to help clients achieve and maintain sobriety, enhance their overall well-being, and successfully reintegrate into their communities.Core Responsibilities:Clinical Service DeliveryConduct comprehensive intake assessments using standardized tools and clinical interviews to evaluate substance use history, mental health status, and client needsDevelop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each client's unique circumstancesProvide high-quality individual and group substance use and mental health counseling servicesMaintain an assigned caseload while continually assessing clients for risk, including lethality, suicidality, and safety concernsRespond promptly and effectively to crises, relapses, or mental health emergenciesDeliver prevention, consultation, and educational services to clients and community organizations as assignedDocumentation and ComplianceMaintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation including treatment plans, progress notes, group notes, and discharge summariesEnsure compliance with 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, state regulations, and all agency policies and proceduresAdhere to ethical codes (ACA, NASW, AAMFT), client rights regulations, and applicable local, state, and federal lawsComplete all required documentation within established timeframesCollaboration and TeamworkActively participate in daily morning huddles, clinical team meetings, general staff meetings, and management meetings as scheduledEstablish and maintain professional, supportive relationships with clients, colleagues, and external partnersServe as a liaison between Basecamp and external community resources to ensure continuity of careAssume caseloads of fellow counselors during absences due to illness, emergencies, or vacations as neededCollaborate with multidisciplinary team members (psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, peer support specialists) to coordinate comprehensive careProfessional DevelopmentRemain current on research, best practices, and advancements in substance use and mental health treatmentParticipate in ongoing professional development, clinical supervision, and continuing education to enhance clinical skills and maintain licensure requirementsAttend required training sessions on confidentiality, safety protocols, trauma-informed care, and cultural competencyOther DutiesWork occasional evenings and weekends to accommodate client schedules and program needsTravel between multiple facility locations (Franklinton, Whitehall, Madison Health) as requiredUphold the Mission Statement and core values of Basecamp Recovery Center in all interactionsPerform other duties as assigned by Clinical Director or managementJob Duties:Conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments and ASAM level of care determinationsFacilitate individual therapy sessions using evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, MI, trauma-informed care)Lead group counseling sessions on topics including relapse prevention, coping skills, life skills, and recovery supportDevelop SMART treatment goals in collaboration with clientsMonitor client progress and modify treatment plans as neededCoordinate care with external providers including primary care physicians, psychiatrists, probation officers, and family membersComplete required clinical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) system dailyParticipate in utilization review and quality assurance activitiesProvide crisis intervention and safety planning for clients experiencing acute distressMake appropriate referrals to community resources for housing, employment, legal services, and medical careEducate clients and families about addiction, recovery, and available resourcesMaintain professional boundaries while demonstrating compassion and cultural sensitivityDocument client attendance, participation, and progress toward treatment goalsComplete discharge summaries and aftercare planning for transitioning clientsEducation and Experience:Required:Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field from an accredited institutionLicensure: Active, unrestricted state licensure in Ohio as LPC, LPCC, LSW, LISW, or LMFTExperience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders or co-occurring mental health conditions (preferred)Certifications:Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)Valid Ohio driver's license with acceptable driving record and current auto insuranceBackground: Must pass criminal background check (Level I and Level II -
