Job summary

Sweetser in Winterport, ME is seeking a Residential Clinician to serve a small caseload of children and adolescents in a residential setting, providing individual, group and family therapy under the supervision of the residential director.

You will develop and monitor ISP and related plans, coordinate with families and schools, document care, and contribute to a compassionate, evidence-based program that supports youth and their families toward positive outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
  • Fully licensed or conditionally licensed (LCSW, LCPC, LMSW, LMFT).
  • Experience in residential or child/adolescent mental health preferred.
  • Ability to work with families and diverse youth.

Responsibilities

  • Assess child/adolescent and family using established tools; determine level of care and risk.
  • Develop ISP, ICMP, and Discharge/Aftercare plans with family involvement.
  • Provide individual, group and family therapy as indicated in residential setting.
  • Monitor progress and document service delivery according to program requirements.
  • Support supervision and provide clinical learning opportunities for students.

Summary:

Sweetser is searching for a residential clinician to join the team in Winterport. This position will serve a small caseload of children/adolescents, their families, guardians, and other care providers through individual, group, and family therapy in a residential setting. In conjunction with the residential supervisor, provides clinical leadership to program staff by implementing the treatment plan in the residential milieu.

Salary Range
  • Conditional Licensure $60,000 - $62,000 dependent on years of experience
  • Independent Licensure $62,000 - $70,000 dependent on years of experience
  • $10,000 sign-on bonus!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assessment
  • Use organization’s established tools and procedures to formulate assessment of the child/adolescent and his/her family. This includes level of care and risk assessments as needed. Involve family members and significant others.
  • Completes assessment to make diagnosis with possible collaboration with others .
  • Treatment Planning and Service Delivery
  • With the child/adolescent and his/her family, develop an Individualized Service Plan (ISP), Individual Crisis Management Plan (ICMP), and a Discharge and Aftercare Plan and other documents associated with the Record such as the Initial Assessment (IA) or Service Update (SUD).
  • Offer treatment to the child/adolescent and his/her family by using family-centered clinical techniques and therapies (including individual, group and family therapy as indicated.)
  • Assist in developing and monitoring specialized behavioral programs, as indicated.
  • Identify concrete service needs and help the family make a referral for community based services.
  • Documentation and Accountability
  • Achieve program-specific productivity expectations.
  • Maintain historical records by documenting service delivery and ensuring the timely completion of all programmatic paperwork documentation and electronic record.
  • Assure quality service for clients by enforcing rules, regulations, and legal requirements with clients.
  • Adhere to professional code of ethics.
  • Attend and participate in supervision.
  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure funding.
  • Provide a clinical experience for student interns as appropriate
EDUCATION
  • Master’s degree in either social work, psychology, clinical counseling or other comparable mental health program.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Fully licensed or conditionally licensed as an LCSW, LCPC, LMSW or LMFT.
  • Valid state driver's license.
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in a residential-based service system preferred.
  • Persons with lived experience in the Mental Health and/or Substance Abuse system are encouraged to apply.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, treatment plans and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Above average computer skills a must; power, keyboard and mouse functions.
  • Ability to work with difficult-to-manage youth.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other professionals on behalf of youth and their families.
  • Able to develop a positive therapeutic relationship with clients and their families.
  • Ability to transport clients.
  • Demonstrated competence in discipline.
