POSITION SUMMARY
The Brief Strategic Family Therapy Lead Clinician provides model adherent clinical treatment to adolescents and their families. The Clinician maintains a positive and optimistic attitude; and works collaboratively with internal and external providers to maintain effective and well coordinated care. The BSFT Clinician also completes documentation in an accurate, timely, and compliant manner consistent with regulatory guidelines to contribute to the financial viability of the program.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral degree in Psychology or Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling or Social Work is required. Plus at least 2 years experience with behavioral health service delivery to children, adolescents, and families.
Valid Drivers License is required. Safely operates vehicle in the community, based on program needs.
Licensure Requirements for Clinical Positions
Must hold one of the following credentials: LMSW, LCSW, LMFTA, LMFT, LPCA, LPC or licensed or license-eligible Psychologist in the State of Connecticut.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts program specific screening and evaluation, and formulates diagnosis in accordance with the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM). Develops and documents, clear clinical formulations and treatment plans that are individualized and measurable, developed in collaboration with the client/family and others as relevant.
Demonstrates knowledge of psychopathology and other behavioral health concerns and primary modalities of psychotherapeutic intervention in accordance with BSFT model. Triages clinical emergencies and implements program specific safety and consultation protocols.
Demonstrates fidelity to established treatment models and uses good judgment in securing further therapeutic consultation as clinically indicated.
Demonstrates knowledge of internal and external levels of care, referral processes and resources. Makes clinically appropriate referrals for identified service needs in a timely manner.
Communicates in a positive, effective manner with client, family, and all internal and external providers. Attends any required meetings.
Participates in and completes all BSFT model training requirements and elements of establishment for BSFT certification.
Meets direct service productivity goals as defined by program. Demonstrates knowledge of program/department/agency goals and target outcomes, and adheres to practice standards and to data collection and reporting protocols.
Documents all client related information in compliance with agency policy.
Attends and is prepared for scheduled supervision. Seeks additional supervision or consultation as needed and follows through with supervisory directives.
Provides service in the office and/or community settings outside of the office (e.g., homes, schools, hospitals, institutions, other community locations) as defined by the program. May transport clients to appointments or linkages as appropriate.
Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
