Job summary

Recovery Network Of Programs is seeking a licensed clinician to perform intake and discharge assessments and counsel individuals and groups dealing with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The role includes developing and implementing therapeutic treatment plans under supervision.

The position operates Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, at the Kinsella Treatment Center in Bridgeport, CT. Candidates should have LADC or equivalent license and a master’s degree in behavioral sciences,

Qualifications

  • Licensure as LADC, LMFT, LPC, LMSW/LCSW are listed qualifications.
  • Master’s degree in behavioral sciences with two years of counseling experience preferred.
  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake and discharge assessments for clients.
  • Counsel individuals and groups regarding substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans.
  • Maintain caseload of clients needing psychotherapy and MOUD.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports per standards.
  • Coordinate clinical contacts with CACs and other staff.
  • Provide information and education to clients and families.

SUMMARY

In accordance with RNP's Mission Statement, Philosophy of Client Care and Code of Ethics as stated in the Personnel Policies and under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator, completes intake and discharge assessments on incoming and outgoing clients and counsels individuals and/or groups regarding substance abuse problems and co-occurring disorders, and develops and implements a therapeutic treatment plan by performing the following duties.

HOURS

Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Conducts screening, intake, orientation and multi-dimensional assessment of clients to obtain information concerning substance abuse and medical history or other pertinent information.
  • Maintains a caseload of clients in need of mental health psychotherapy and/or MOUD clients
  • Completes treatment plans and discharge summaries for assigned caseload.
  • Responsible for caseload oversight and coordination of clinical contacts with CAC’s.
  • Connects clients with necessary supports and provides warm handoffs to primary clinicians and other RNP resources inside of the building.
  • Implements therapeutic treatment using approved methods of planning, counseling, case management and crisis intervention to assist clients in overcoming substance abuse disorders and other co-occurring issues.
  • Prepares and maintains records on assigned caseload and issues reports, according to Agency and regulatory body standards.
  • Ability to complete documentation in a timely manner.
  • Assists in signing clinical documentation for billing purposes.
  • Serves as primary back up to other Licensed Clinicians in the building including Admissions and IOP.
  • Consults with Clinical Coordinator, Medical Doctor, Psychiatric staff or other specialists concerning treatment plan and amends plan as directed.
  • Provides information and education to individuals, families and groups concerning substance abuse and mental health disorders (co-occurring disorder).
  • Refers clients to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling.
  • Is an Agency approved driver.
  • Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service representation.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of counseling.
  • Knowledge of American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) requirements and core principles.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information pertinent to the care of clients.
  • Ability to meet Agency and regulatory body standards of documentation.
  • Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social and economic effects of substance abuse, homelessness, medical and mental health issues.
  • Knowledge of community resources. Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
  • Ability to project a professional image.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Licensed alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Masters/Clinical Social Worker (LMSW/LCSW).
  • Master’s degree in the behavioral sciences and two (2) years experience in counseling preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Connecticut driver's license may be required.
