Job description

TheResidential Clinician is responsible for providing direct and indirect residentialclinical services to individuals with substance use and/or co-occurringdisorders. Direct services include but are not limited to assessment, treatmentplanning, individual, group and family counseling, and discharge planning.Indirect services include supervision, staff meetings, trainings, residentialoperation, answering phone calls, treatment authorizations, collaborating withoutside providers, and all paperwork, reporting and documentation associatedwith client care. This position collaborateswith a multi-disciplinary team to create an individualized recovery program foreach client.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a client caseload, providing clinical assessments, individualand group therapy as assigned.
  • Ensure appropriateness and quality of care, and that clients receive minimumrequired weekly clinical treatment hours.
  • Utilize motivational enhancement and engagement strategies appropriateto the individual's stage of readiness and desire to change.
  • Secureinitial insurance authorization and all required concurrent authorizations andrenewals throughout care. Provide appropriate information to billing personnelas required.
  • Complete all clinical documentation, including but not limited to residentialassessment, progress notes, group notes, treatment plans and reviews, dischargesand DDaPs according to policy.
  • Input all clinical documentation in Connecticut Renaissance's EHRaccurately and timely.
  • Collaboratewith the multidisciplinary team to direct and plan client care and assessneeds and performance within the program.
  • Where required, communicate with referral sources on thestatus of each client's progress and performance within the program,including the preparation of reports and CDCS data entry (West).
  • Participate in allrequired internal and external meetings andsupervisions.
  • Assistin monitoring the appropriateness of referrals and maintaining high bedutilization.
  • Provide urinalysis/breathalyzer testing when indicatedand within guidelines of monitoring.
  • Assistwith daily residential tasks including but not limited to head-count, tours,medication monitoring, log book maintenance and transportation of clients whenneeded.
  • Attend all required internal and external meetings andsupervisions.
  • Complete allrequired internal and external trainings within required timeframes.
  • Meet and contribute to agency outcomes and performancemeasures.
  • Maintainprofessional licensure, certification, and continuing education.
  • May perform other duties assigned by supervisor
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilitiesand Other Characteristics
Knowledge Of
  • The biological and psychosocialdimensions of substance use, mental health and co-occurring disorders,including diagnosis, assessment and treatment.
  • Fee for service and billing requirements for residential services.
  • Electronic Health Record
  • HIPAA regulationsand other regulatory laws
  • General officesoftware, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Manage priorities effectively to meet deadlines and demonstrate effectivemulti-tasking skills.

Education and Experience
  • Master Degree with Licensure in Behavioral Health(LPC, LCSW, LMFT) in CT. Additional LADC a plus.
  • Associate Licensure in Behavioral Health (LPC-A,LMSW, LMFT-A) eligible.
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience inbehavioral health field; experience in a residential setting preferred.
  • Experience in trauma informed care preferred.
  • Experience with substance abuse clients,co-occurring diagnosed clients and criminal justice population preferred.
Other
  • Must be dependable and reliable;detailed oriented; and able to interface easily with clients, staff, andreferral sources.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Position requires climbing stairs andthe ability to lift 20 lbs or more
  • Mayneed to travel to other CTR locations
  • Must successfully complete the introductoryprobationary employment period.
  • Must have a valid CT driver's license.
