The incumbent will serve as an assistant to the clinical trials research coordinators, director of cardiovascular research and Principal Investigators in general cardiology with an emphasis on ongoing research in lipid management and cardiac rehabilitation program.
The incumbent will perform standard repetitive field procedures that require technical, scientific knowledge and skills. Major responsibilities include assisting the research team with communication between pharmaceutical company sponsors, conducting phone screenings of patients, assisting with patient interviews and data collection, completing case report forms, and scheduling patient visits. Research duties include maintaining the inventory of rating scales and screening instruments. Laboratory duties include assisting with the inventory of lab kits, supplies, and the processing and shipping of specimens. Other duties will be assigned as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from high school OR a General Education Diploma and two years of laboratory experience OR two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and one year of laboratory experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. College level coursework completed in physiology, biology, biochemistry, microbiology preferred.
Experience handling biological samples (blood and urine specimens).
Experience using Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, and Excel and data entry experience.
Experience executing protocol-required tasks.
Knowledge of cardiology patient populations and ability to perform telephone screenings.
Ability to elicit clinically significant information from patients/subjects.
Demonstrated ability to perform lab duties safely and ship laboratory specimens on time
Must be able to work well with colleagues on a team while making an independent contribution to the research endeavors
Must be able to perform detailed work successfully
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with research subjects, study sponsors, and all research and clinical staff.
Ability to prepare IRB forms.
Only social and behavioral science research experience.
Experience interpreting medical charts, experience in abstracting data from medical records.
Knowledge of National Institute of Health (NIH), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Human Resource Protection Program (HRPP), IATA Shipping of Blood Specimens, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to work in a changing, multiple-demand setting in order to prioritize a large volume of work and meet deadlines efficiently and accurately.
Must have clinical research experience in biomedical research.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule and occasional weekends.
Must be willing to handling biological samples (blood and urine specimens).
Must have a reliable source of prompt communication.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $45,999 - $54,079 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $22.03 - $25.90
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
