Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator in the Department of Medicine to coordinate and manage clinical trials, including protocol management, subject screening, data collection and adverse event reporting.

You will work under the Clinical Research Supervisor, support regulatory submissions, maintain accurate trial files, and communicate with investigators and study sponsors to ensure compliance and timely study activities.

Qualifications

• Theoretical knowledge in biology, microbiology, or related clinical sciences typically with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Experience performing clinical research duties in a clinical research environment.
• Experience with laboratory procedures and interpreting results for eligibility and toxicities.
• Experience with FDA policies regulating clinical trials.
• Experience completing clinical trials CRFs (paper and online).
• Experience recruiting study participants.
• Experience coordinating startup activities.
• Experience training research personnel on protocols and procedures.
• Knowledge of imaging modalities and diagnostic procedures.
• Experience maintaining accurate research files and patient charts.
• Strong planning, organization, and deadline management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and professional interaction with diverse populations.
• Experience using statistical software; knowledge of Velos, Access, Excel, and MS Word.
• Experience in medical assessment and patient interviewing for toxicities and protocol management.
• Ability to interpret medical charts and abstract data from records.
• Knowledge of NIH, GCP, IIPP, HRPP, IATA, and Bloodborne Pathogens.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage clinical trials, including screening for eligibility and data collection.
• Ensure protocol compliance and timely reporting of adverse events and toxicities.
• Maintain accurate and complete clinical research files and patient charts.
• Assist with regulatory submissions, renewals, and safety reports.
• Communicate with investigators, IRB, and study sponsors; attend weekly meetings.
• Support project management in reviewing statements and invoicing.
