Job summary

Principle Health Systems in Houston, TX is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join the Toxicology Department. You will perform toxicology-specific laboratory testing, maintain quality control processes, troubleshoot specialized equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry).
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical toxicology urine testing, including screening and confirmation methods, as well as other testing procedures established within the toxicology department.
• Perform test procedures on patient specimens in strict adherence to the Section’s Standard Operating Procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Analyze, review, and interpret test results to ensure analytical integrity, identifying and resolving any inconsistencies.
• Perform and document Quality Control procedures to maintain compliance and ensure test accuracy within control limits.
• Initiate corrective actions for incomplete, inconclusive, or inaccurate testing data.
• Maintain the operational status of major automated equipment by performing routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting as needed.
• Assist in evaluating and implementing new procedures and equipment to keep the laboratory aligned with current advancements in toxicology technology.
• Participate in continuing education, training, and teaching opportunities to enhance technical skills and meet Section Performance Standards.
• Manage inventory of reagents and laboratory supplies to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements relevant to toxicology laboratory operations.
• Perform other related duties as needed within the scope of the position.
