Although the full salary range for this position is provided, appointments are typically made at or near the range minimum.
Provide skilled intensive psychiatric treatment services to patients with mental illnesses with mixed diagnoses, who need crisis intervention, treatment, and rehabilitation. Develop and implement therapy techniques and practices utilizing known and established theoretical concepts for adolescent, geriatric, and adult psychiatric populations, tailored to the individual patient’s level of functioning. These therapeutic services aim to facilitate psychological, physical, social, cognitive, leisure, and daily living skills through a comprehensive rehabilitative, leisure education, and experiential recreation participation model, ensuring compliance with JCAHO, CMS, and CMHHIP policies.
Provide skilled intensive psychiatric treatment services to patients with mental illnesses with mixed diagnosis, who are in need of crisis intervention, treatment, and rehabilitation. Develop and implement therapy techniques and practices utilizing known and established theoretical concepts for adolescent, geriatric, and adult psychiatric populations, appropriate to the individual patients' level of functioning. Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to design services that address the patients' Plan of Care, treatment program model, Recovery philosophy, and Trauma-Informed Care. Participate in developing and reviewing Treatment Plans, and design therapy services that include leisure education, physical, cognitive, social, psychological, and living skills to promote independence and leisure choices. Conduct therapy sessions, including groups and 1:1 counseling, evaluations, education, and recreational activities, possibly in a secure facility. Apply therapeutic practices to improve or maintain clients' cognition, emotional, educational, communication, socialization, and physical functioning. Document all activities in accordance with hospital policies, including patient-specific and programmatic documentation.
Stay updated on issues and trends relevant to psychiatric patient assessment and treatment, especially for those with dual diagnoses such as dementia, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders. Gather outcome data to evaluate treatment effectiveness and participate in departmental meetings, training, and certifications to maintain professional standards.
Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience equaling six years. Certifications such as CTRS from NCTRC or Board Certification in related areas are required. Preferred experience includes state service, hospital work, facilitating groups with unmotivated clients.
Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with possible need for an 11 am to 8 pm shift.
