**Job Description: Clinical Therapist**

**Effective 4/21/2025**

  • Title: Clinical Therapist
  • Department: Clinical
  • Location: Generally located at the Salt Lake County Site with travel to other sites as needed.
  • Supervisor: Clinical Supervisor
  • Category: Full time (40+ hours per week as needed)
  • FLSA Status: Non-exempt
  • Pay: $27-30 for Associate; $30-35 for fully licensed
  • Schedule: Typically, Monday -- Friday 9:00am -- 5:00pm. Flexibility in days/time is required; evening/weekend work may be necessary.
GENERAL PURPOSE

The Clinical Therapist provides mental health services including individual, family, and group therapy for Shelter residents and community clients, offering emotional support and referrals upon exit. Therapy is provided at the West Jordan Shelter and various Community Resource Centers across Salt Lake County.

South Valley Services (SVS) is a non-profit dedicated to supporting those affected by domestic and sexual violence, offering free, confidential services including emergency shelter, trauma-informed counseling, advocacy, and life tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Provide clinical services such as individual, child, family, and group therapy, including crisis intervention.
  2. Conduct intake assessments for Shelter residents and community clients.
  3. Develop, document, and follow treatment plans for each client.
  4. Create and maintain accurate treatment documentation and client notes, submitting them timely.
  5. Support SVS’s trauma-informed, 360-degree organizational approach.
  6. Maintain confidentiality and handle all client, employee, and donor information properly.
  7. Uphold professional ethical standards and boundaries.
  8. Mentor clinical interns and assist with staff training and departmental meetings.
  9. Provide clinical support and education to other departments as needed.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field.
  • Licensed or provisionally licensed (LCSW, CMHC, MFT, CSW, ACMHC).
  • At least one year of experience with trauma-affected clients.
  • Experience facilitating therapy and psychoeducational groups.
  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and trauma-informed care.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work remotely and at community sites with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Clear background check through DACS.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Full licensure preferred.
  • Trauma-informed training or experience with families in crisis.
  • Experience in non-profit human services, especially domestic violence services.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work involves office settings at the Shelter and Community Resource Centers, with travel to community locations. Some remote work is permitted, but in-person attendance is required for staff meetings, open-door hours, and shelter group facilitation. Travel to Tooele County sites may be necessary. Flexibility is essential.
