Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in Cleveland is seeking a Clinical Technician for the Neuro ICU. You will support a skilled team providing patient care under an RN supervision, help with daily needs, monitor patients, and ensure a clean, safe environment.

This role offers exposure to advanced neurological care and growth within a renowned academic health system. The unit serves complex stroke and neuro conditions; schedule includes day/night rotations with 12-hour shifts, every other weekend;

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience
• Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley Catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

The Neurological Intensive Care Unit on G20/H22 provides world-class care to complex neurological medical and surgical patients. The unit is certified as part of the Comprehensive Stroke Center within Cleveland Clinic’s nationally renowned Neurological Institute. The patient population includes young adults through geriatrics with diagnoses of conditionssuch as:ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subdural hematomas, status epilepticus/seizures, brain tumors, neuromusculardisordersand spinal injuries.

A caregiver in this position worksevery other weekend and holiday| day/night rotation| 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American RedCrosswithin new hire period(Nursing students required to have BLS prior to hire)

• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience

• Additionaleducation/training may substitute for some/allthe stated experience (i.e.mental health experience)

• Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience

• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

• Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.

• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
