Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide daily patient care under the supervision of the RN or Patient Care Manager. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, collect data, and support comfort measures for patients and their families.

The role may involve phlebotomy and EKG procedures depending on the unit, with emphasis on patient-centered care and strong interpersonal communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; CNA certification required or enrollment in nursing program.
• One year patient care experience (EKG, Phlebotomy, Nurse Aide, Nurse Technician) preferred.
• CNA certification or active enrollment in a nursing program.
• Phlebotomy or EKG experience is preferred depending on area of assignment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and PFCC mindset are essential.

Responsibilities

• Conducts daily patient care activities including activities of daily living and comfort measures.
• Collects data: weighs, temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure measurements.
• Performs non-sterile treatments, such as applying cold compresses.
• Performs specimen collection and phlebotomy where applicable.
• Uses effective interpersonal skills in all interactions with patients and families.
• Maintains active involvement in educational activities related to the role and attends mandatory inservices.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Patient Care Manager and remains flexible with schedule.

Under the direct supervision of the RN or Patient Care Manager, performs duties of daily patient care which include bath and assistance with activities of daily living, data collection on weight, temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure measurements. Qualifications

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent. Must be a CNA or complete certification prior to completion oforientation or has completed one clinical nursing school rotation and currently enrolled in a nursing program.

EXPERIENCE

One (1) year patient care experience (EKG, Phlebotomy, Nurse Aide, Nurse Technician) preferred.
