Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health in New Haven, CT is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Assistant to work under the RN or Patient Care Manager. You will perform daily patient care, assist with activities of daily living, collect routine vitals, and support non-sterile treatments, phlebotomy as assigned, and EKGs.

Emphasis on PFCC and exceptional service. This role requires a CNA or current nursing program enrollment, at least one year of related patient care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be a CNA or complete certification prior to orientation.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program or have completed one nursing rotation.

Responsibilities

• Conducts daily patient care activities including activities of daily living.
• Collects data: weights, temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure measurements.
• Performs non-sterile treatments and phlebotomy as assigned.
• Applies cold compresses and participates in EKG procedures.
• Uses effective interpersonal skills in all interactions and demonstrates respect.
• Maintains involvement in educational activities and attends mandatory inservices.
• Supports the patient care manager and remains flexible with assignment changes.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent. Must be a CNA or complete certification prior to completion of orientation or has completed one clinical nursing school rotation and currently enrolled in a nursing program.

EXPERIENCE

One (1) year patient care experience (EKG, Phlebotomy, Nurse Aide, Nurse Technician) preferred.
