Contentnea Health is a Community Health Center providing comprehensive medical, dental and behavioral health services for members of our communities in Greene, Pitt and Pamlico counties in eastern North Carolina.

Job Summary

Provides clinical leadership and support, patient care, and administrative support within the medical clinic.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Provides clinical leadership for clinical support staff, including nurses, medical assistants and medical office assistants.
  2. Provides individualized and clinic-wide training.
  3. Assesses clinical competencies.
  4. Provides feedback to supervisor/manager concerning staff performance.
  5. Operates as clinical leader in medical emergency situations.
  6. Provides clinical support for medical practitioners.
  7. Triages walk-in patients.
  8. Assists with paperwork and letters which need to be completed for patients.
  9. Completes urgent referrals.
  10. Manages refill requests.
  11. Serves as a liaison between medical practitioners and outside entities, such as home health companies, other medical practices, remote patient monitoring program, laboratory processing agencies, and drug/product representatives.
  12. Coordinates stock of medication samples/medical supplies samples.
  13. Completes Communicable Disease Reports and distributes to health departments.
  14. Communicates abnormal results and plans to patients.
  15. Participates in tracking hospitalizations, emergency department visits, labs, and diagnostics.
  16. Provides patient care.
  17. Receives calls and messages from patients and coordinates responses.
  18. Relays patient education per procedure, including diabetic/insulin teaching.
  19. Triages patients for walk-in needs and discusses with medical practitioner.
  20. Assists medical assistants in performing technically difficult clinical procedures.
  21. Reads TB skin tests.
  22. Performs nursing procedures.
  23. Provides administrative support for practice manager.
  24. Coordinates with medical practice manager to create monthly work schedule for all clinical support staff.
  25. Carries out duties of medical practice manager in his or her absence.
  26. Assists with data collection for reports, including quality improvement.
  27. Manages vaccine stock and tracking.
  28. Coordinates maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.
  29. Provides leadership and direction to assigned employees:
  30. Assigns tasks and schedules activities for employees.
  31. Reviews progress of work and offers suggestions/direction for task completion.
  32. Provides training and assistance in the techniques/practices of tasks.
  33. Leads group discussions, problem solving and project activities.
  34. Provides feedback to supervisor/manager concerning employee performance.
  35. Performs similar work duties as those being overseen.

Qualifications and Skills

Associate Degree in Nursing. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Previous clinical experience as an RN in an ambulatory care setting preferred. One year of experience in a leadership role.
