Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a skilled nurse leader to provide shift-to-shift oversight for clinical practice, staffing, patient flow, safety, and utilization of resources. You will ensure the environment of care and role model best practices in a busy hospital setting.

Ideal candidates hold a BSN, with 1 year of charge nurse experience and 2 years of general nursing, plus ACLS/BLS certifications. Strong communication and adaptability are essential.

Qualifications

  • BSN required.
  • 1 year charge nurse experience preferred

Summary

Provides shift to shift oversight for clinical practice, staffing, patient flow, safety, service, and utilization of resources for daily operations. Maintains the environment of care. Provides care to patients in a competent, capable, caring and efficient manner. Care provided is appropriate to the age of the patients served. Role models organizational values. Provides real-time feedback to staff to improve performance. Leads/Participates in department process improvement to improve projects outcomes. Facilitates employee engagement activities including professional/shared governance participation.

Qualifications
Education Requirements:
  • BSN required.
  • Member of professional practice organization pertinent to area of practice preferred
Experience
  • 1 year charge nurse experience preferred
  • Professional experience that demonstrates ability to understand the clinical practice environment. 2 years clinical nursing experience preferred

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities
  • Ability to conceptualize the patient flow process and its impact at the unit and hospital level

License / Certification
  • Current RN license in District of Columbia required
  • Certification in specialty preferred
  • Successful completion of unit specific certifications (BLS,ACLS)
