Job overview

We are seeking 'Critical Care Healthcare Support Workers' to join our ICU team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary. Clinical Support Workers support the nursing team in delivering high-quality patient care, including direct patient care, rehabilitation, stock and equipment management, and housekeeping. We value candidates who share our trust values and enjoy working with patients and teams.

Main duties of the job

Opportunities for skill development, structured appraisal, mentorship, and training are provided. The role involves assisting with activities of daily living, supporting emergency responses, and helping deliver high standards of care. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct patient care and assisting nurses within defined parameters
  • Performing clinical skills such as observations, blood sugar recordings, ECGs
  • Documenting care in patient records
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment
  • Working effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Prioritizing and assisting in clinical care delivery
  • Building rapport with patients and assisting with feeding when necessary
