We have exciting opportunities in our Intensive Care Unit at Royal Lancaster Infirmary for 'Critical Care Healthcare Support Workers' to join our team.

Clinical Support Workers on the ICU are vital to our vision for the future ICU workforce.

As a CSW, you will assist registered nurses in providing high-quality care, supporting patient rehabilitation, managing stock and equipment, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.

Main duties of the job

You will develop clinical skills through structured appraisal, mentorship, and training.

The main role involves providing fundamental nursing care, assisting in activities of daily living, acting in emergencies, and supporting registered nurses.

As a CSW, your responsibilities include:

  • Direct patient care, including all activities
  • Supporting and under the direction of a Registered Nurse
  • Performing clinical skills such as observations, blood sugar tests, ECGs
  • Documenting care in patient records
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment
  • Working effectively with the multidisciplinary team
  • Assisting in the delivery of care, prioritizing patient needs
  • Building rapport with patients, helping with feeding and completing food charts
