Job summary

LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia, seeks a Clinical Support Coordinator - OB to mentor new graduates and nurses transitioning to new specialties. You will round on units, guide ongoing learning, and enhance patient safety through hands‑on coaching and debriefs.

Responsibilities include supporting rapid responses, teaching essential nursing skills, and partnering with unit leaders to advance practice and accountability while upholding safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN licensure required and active in good standing.
• Associate Degree in nursing or related field required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or instructor certification within 30 days of start date.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or instructor certification within 1 year of start date.

Responsibilities

• Rounding on nursing units to observe care, provide in‑the‑moment coaching, and reinforce safe nursing practice.
• Guide new and transitioning nurses through skill development, clinical judgment, care planning, and escalation processes.
• Provide hands‑on support during rapid responses and codes, with feedback and debriefs to reinforce learning.
• Teach, demonstrate, and troubleshoot essential nursing skills while identifying shared learning needs.
• Reinforce safety standards, regulatory expectations, and communication best practices (AIDET, Teach‑Back, Narrating Care).
• Partner with unit leaders to support nurse growth, improve practice, and foster accountability, safety, and teamwork.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Clinical Support Coordinator, you will be a trusted clinical mentor who helps new graduate nurses and nurses moving into new specialties understand their roles, grow their clinical skills, and deliver safe, quality care. By rounding on units, guiding real-time learning, and coaching in critical moments, you will strengthen confidence, improve practice, and help care teams improve more lives in more ways.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Rounding on nursing units to observe care, provide in-the-moment coaching, and reinforce safe, quality nursing practice
• Guiding new and transitioning nurses through skill development, clinical judgment, care planning, and escalation processes

What qualifications you will need:

• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
