Department Overview

At Children’s Minnesota PICU in St. Paul Campus, our interdisciplinary team of intensivists, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, nutritionists, social workers and case managers are dedicated to the care of children with life-changing critical diagnoses. We specialize in caring for children experiencing acute and chronic neurological and respiratory illnesses, recovery of extensive surgical interventions and severe infections, in addition to failure of one or more body organ systems. The PICU at Children’s St. Paul is a 12-bed unit for critically ill patients and their families. We care for patients along the continuum of acute recovery to provide for their changing physical and emotional needs as we prepare them to return home. Our patient population requires complex care, including hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, maintenance of systemic perfusion and management of organ failure. Our team balances a highly technical skill set with a family-centered approach. We rely on teamwork, with open and respectful communication, and promote an environment that encourages learning and professional growth. Position Summary

Provides safe patient care as delegated by licensed nursing staff and maintains equipment and supplies per unit standard. Completed a nursing assistant course or equivalent experience, or completed a nursing or health care related clinical practicum course. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
