Job summary

Guild seeks a licensed behavioral health leader to head a Youth ACT team delivering wraparound, community-based services to teens and young adults with early episode psychosis or co-occurring disorders. You will model servant leadership, oversee clinical care, and foster team trust across disciplines in Minnesota.

The role requires a Master’s in a behavioral science field and an active Minnesota licensure (LICSW/LMFT/LPCC).

Job description

Location: St Paul, MN
Purpose:
This position leads an interdisciplinary Youth Assertive Community Treatment (YACT) Team, modeling high-quality clinical services and applying servant leadership principles to prioritize the needs of the team and individuals served. The role fosters trust, collaboration, and empowerment, delivering person-centered, community-based wraparound services to individuals with serious mental health and/or substance use disorders, promoting self-directed, fulfilling lives while minimizing hospitalizations and external resource reliance. The Youth ACT Team specializes in working with clients between the ages of 14-21 who are experiencing the first episodes of their mental illness and assists with transitioning successfully into adult services as clinically indicated.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead daily team operations, provide treatment oversight, and offer clinical supervision and guidance in collaboration with the psychiatric provider, ensuring alignment with Youth ACT statutes
• Supervise, hire, train, and manage staff performance to align with agency values, mission, and a culture of accountability
• Monitor and manage client census, referrals, intakes, and transfers for care transitions
• Facilitate team meetings to promote collaboration, team cohesion and ensure coordinated care
• Oversee client records for progress tracking and regulatory compliance and monitor, review and approve team clinical documentation as required
• Assess and monitor the mental health needs of clients, including completing diagnostic assessments, updating treatment plans, and providing direct care/individual therapy services in a community-based setting as needed
• Collaborate with other service providers and natural supports, ensuring clear communication and coordination of services
• Complete required documentation in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards
• Participate in professional development activities and continuing education, particularly in youth and adolescent mental health
• Provide supervision as required by licensure and team needs
• Lead initiatives to promote diversity, respect, and cultural competence in the workplace
• Perform other duties as needed to support client care and department operations

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and evidence-based treatments for Adolescents with Severe Mental Health Diagnoses, particularly psychotic disorders and co-occurring substance use disorders
• Familiarity with community resources, county benefits, and mental health services
• Understanding of laws, statutes, policies, and requirements affecting services
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills
• Strong rapport-building, assessment, and crisis intervention skills, including de-escalation and connecting clients to higher levels of care
• Proficient clinical judgment, particularly with youth and adolescents, to make decisions and provide direction to the team
• Independent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to lead and collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment
• Skilled in identifying early signs of psychosis and managing symptoms using therapeutic approaches
• Capable of managing workload, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment
• Ability to adapt to and lead change and develop new approaches to meet client needs
• Skill in providing constructive feedback and recognizing staff contributions for growth

Working Conditions:

• This position primarily works in the field as services are provided to clients wherever needed.
• Some activities may be required in the community
• Travel may be required to other program sites.
• Requires transporting clients in a personal vehicle regularly
• This position has the potential to come into contact with bodily fluids, communicable diseases, tobacco smoke, and household pets
• Prolonged periods at a desk, working on a computer
• Walking and standing continuously for hours at a time
• Manual dexterity for tasks such as taking notes, using technological devices for documentation, or assisting clients with certain activities if needed
• Must be ambulatory and able to negotiate stairways
• The ability to lift and carry heavy weights that could be up to 25 pounds

Required Education and Experience:

• Master's Degree in one of the behavioral sciences or a related field from an accredited college or university
• Licensed as a Mental Health Professional (LICSW, LMFT, or LPCC) in the state of Minnesota

Preferred Experience:

• Two years' experience working with Adolescents or individuals with SPMI in a community-based or ACT setting and some leadership experience.

Additional Requirements:

• Must possess a valid Class 'D' Driver's License, own a reliable vehicle, maintain a satisfactory driving record, and carry automobile insurance in the employee's name with necessary insurance
• Availability for 24/7 on-call crisis support on a rotating schedule
• Must not be currently receiving or have received services from Guild within the last two years

The salary range for this position is between $78,000 to $89,000 annually. The range reflects the minimum and maximum salary for the position. Compensation will depend on the candidate's professional experience, skills, and relevant education, training, and certifications.
