POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Recovery and Wellness Services (RWS) Department provides substance use treatment services to youth, women and adults in Alameda County. The Clinical Supervisor in our RWS Department works in collaboration with the Department Director and Program Supervisors to provide clinical oversight and support to all staff within the department. Tasks include but are not limited to: 1) individual and group clinical supervision, 2) oversight of documentation quality, 3) supporting quality assurance processes, 4) training and coaching to staff on clinical matters, and 5) maintaining knowledge of and compliance with regulatory and treatment standards.

This is a hybrid-remote position. Work hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm. On rare occasions, must be available after-hours and on weekends, in case of client crisis to offer remote consultation and support as needed.

Familiarity with using Zoom, Microsoft Outlook (email and calendars), Google Drive and basic

Internet use is required for this position.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical supervision to direct service staff including, weekly individual and group clinical supervision for all RWS direct services staff. This could include SUD Counselors, BBS/ BOP Trainees/Interns, and Staff Therapists (such as AMFT/LMFT, ASW/LCSW, or Registered Psychologist staff) in compliance with standards set by the Board of Behavioral Sciences, Board of Psychology and other regulatory licensure board;
  • Conduct ongoing documentation review, offer training and guidance for continuous quality improvement around documentation in collaboration with Quality Assurance teams. This includes:
    • Coaching on development of clinical writing to meet MediCal regulations
    • Assistance in developing bio-psychosocial assessments for accurate diagnosis
    • Educating staff on maintaining integrity, accuracy and timeliness of all client records.
    • Participation in CQRT reviews and offering input to staff and QA team.
  • Ensure adherence to program guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Act as LPHA in establishing medical necessity and formulating diagnosis for all client charts. This includes review of documentation in Alameda County Behavioral Health’s electronic health records system, Clinician’s Gateway SmartCare, to evaluate and approve clinical documentation completed by program staff such as assessments and treatment plans.
  • In the event of a client crisis, attend to the incident with appropriate next steps in collaboration with staff assigned to the client.
    • This could include crisis intervention, risk assessment, mobilizing crisis support services, etc.
    • Facilitate incident reporting and debrief of critical incidents.
  • Act as clinical supervisor for AOD Certification track staff.
    • Submit paperwork for verification to be certified supervisor for CCAPP/CAADE/CADTP/ other credentialing bodies recognized by DHCS as Counselor Certification Organizations.
    • Offer supervision with the 12 core functions framework required to oversee SUD Counselor’s work. This could include some live observation of counselors with clients.
  • Offer training and coaching on topics such as mandated reporting, trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorders, client engagement strategies, group counseling skills, risk assessment and other topics identified as gaps essential for smooth operations of each program.
  • Meet at least 1x/month with each program supervisor to update staff related issues
  • Attend weekly leadership team meetings and other mandatory agency-wide meetings.
  • Complete and stay in compliance with all required contract specific trainings.
  • Assist Program Director and other upper management team in developing clinical policies and procedures and contribute towards development of program manuals for each program.

  • Attend trainings and participate in events relevant to key responsibilities
  • Track and regularly report on key metrics for responsible function areas
  • Leads and collaborates on special projects related to agency objectives as appropriate
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Be a qualified Clinical Supervisor per standards set forth by the California Boards of Behavioral
  • Sciences /Board of Psychology: maintain active and unrestricted LPHA license (e.g., Psychologist,
  • LCSW, LMFT, LPCC), including a minimum of 6 hours of Supervisory Continuing Education Units
  • per license renewal period. Proof of completion of these hours shall be available on request.
  • Must be 2 years post licensed in order to qualify as clinical supervisor. Must maintain license in
  • good standing over the course of employment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Substance Use Disorders and their treatment using various,
  • evidence-based approached.
  • Knowledge of ASAM Criteria Levels of Care in addiction treatment highly desired!
  • Have knowledge of the Alameda County Organized Delivery System or similar system(s).
  • Familiarity with Alameda County’s use of Clinician’s Gateway SmartCare preferred.
  • Non-Profit and Community-Based Organization experience is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrates and models excellent “customer service” orientation, especially in the ability to interact with people at all levels within and outside the agency.
  • Thinks independently and can make informed decisions when needed.
  • Exercises extreme discretion with the ability to hold, balance, and transmit public and confidential information needed by various parties.
  • Proficient in using MS Office products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Acquires or maintains proficiency in using Google Drive products, including Docs, Sheets, and Forms.
  • Valid CA Driver’s license
