Job summary

The Village Family Services in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Clinical Supervisor to lead clinical and administrative supervision across our mental health and related programs. This role supports delivery of evidence-based services, oversight of client care, and ensures billing, documentation, and caseload management meet agency, DMH, and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

  • PsyD or PhD in psychology, counseling, social work or related field.
  • Valid California clinical license for a minimum of two years.
  • Minimum two years supervising licensed and unlicensed clinicians providing intensive services for emotionally disturbed children and their caregivers preferred.
  • Experience in implementing treatment programs, knowledge of and skills in individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Conduct psychological test batteries including cognitive and personality testing.
  • Strong communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Skilled in engaging, motivating and working with diverse individuals and groups to accomplish established goals.
  • Self-directed, efficient and effective in problem solving and managing multiple demands and objectives.
  • Strong leadership skills and able to work as a part of a Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Knowledge of DMH clinical paperwork, Child Welfare Continuum Care Reform, and a Recovery/ Wellness approach.
  • Ability to adapt to changing service delivery while meeting contract needs.
  • Hybrid position with in-office work at minimum 50% weekly and evening rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing individual supervision of community-based therapists.
  • Provide didactic trainings, group supervision as assigned.
  • Recruit and train program staff; provide staff development.
  • Oversee the delivery of quality clinical services and compliance with agency policy.
  • Coordinate appropriate clinical practices and various intensities of services with the staff to meet client needs.
  • Conduct psychological testing including cognitive, personality, and learning disorder assessments.
  • Administer, score, and interpret test batteries and deliver evaluative reports.
  • Assist in developing policies to ensure funding compliance.
  • Interface with DCFS, DMH, court systems, schools, and community liaisons.
  • Experience with adolescents, foster care, and probation-referred clients.
  • Ensure service hour targets and supervisee coverage.
  • Implement performance actions when supervisees underperform.
  • Ensure paperwork is complete and deadlines are met.
  • Provide 24-hour availability and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Participate in meetings and trainings; organize evening schedule coverage.
  • Comply with agency guidelines and licensing requirements.
  • Maintain supervision CE hours and ethical standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Village is accredited by the International Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its Adoptions, Foster Care, Mental Health, Wraparound, and Drop-In Center services. We deliver evidenced-based behavioral health services to children, youth and adults, and has long been at the forefront of culturally sensitive foster care and adoption services.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Supervisor to join our team. This role is crucial in overseeing the delivery of high-quality clinical services, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible care.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Clinical Supervisor Psychologist is primarily responsible for providing clinical and administrative supervision (e.g., client oversight, case consultation, timecard approval, productivity reports) and support for any mental health, linkages, or other adjunct services provided in collaboration with any department or program within the agency including MH, FFA, ISFC, Residential, Drop-In Center, Adoptions or other administrative as needed. The Clinical Supervisor position is an integral part of the management team and successfully collaborates with colleagues and programs to ensure overall program and agency effectiveness. The Clinical Supervisor is accountable for ensuring delivery of exceptional services that are focused on the client needs while also upholding TVFS, DMH, and accreditation standards. The Clinical Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring accurate billing, documentation, and appropriate caseloads. This person is responsible for improving the overall agency functioning and using clinical and administrative knowledge to improve the way services are delivered, billed, and documented to every client TVFS serves. This position requires great flexibility and ability to adapt to the changing horizon in mental health service delivery in LA County DMH.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1. PsyD or PhD in psychology, counseling, social work or related field
  • 2. Valid California clinical license for a minimum of two years
  • 3. Minimum two years' experience supervising licensed and unlicensed clinicians providing intensive services for emotionally disturbed children and their caregivers preferred

  • 10. Strong clinical understanding and the ability to multitask and manage areas of supervision including, but not limited to, compliance with documentation timeline policies, client service hours expectation maintenance, caseload management
  • 11. Evidence Based Practices knowledge and experience preferred
  • 12. Proficient with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) clinical paperwork, Child Welfare Continuum Care Reform, and a philosophy of Recovery, Wellness and Integrative Care
  • 13. Ability to quickly change course when needed to maintain service delivery while adhering to agency contract needs and business requirements
  • 14. This is a hybrid position with in-office work as directed by management, at minimum 50% weekly and an evening rotation
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • 1. Provide on-going individual supervision of community-based therapists as assigned

  • 6. Conduct psychological testing including psychodiagnostic assessment batteries including intellectual/cognitive, objective/projective tests, and learning disorder evaluations to assist with diagnostic clarification and treatment recommendations
  • 7. Administer, score, and interpret test batteries including cognitive, personality and learning disorder measures; complete integrative reports and summaries and deliver evaluations to clients, caregivers, therapists and multidisciplinary teams
  • 8. Assist in the development of program policies and procedures to ensure agency compliance with funding sources
  • 9. Interface with DCFS, DMH, court systems, schools, and other community liaisons
  • 10. Experience with adolescents, foster care population, and probation-referred clients
  • 11. Ensure that client service hour expectations are met for direct report supervisees
  • 12. Implement performance action when the supervisee falls below 90% of the expectation
  • 13. Ensure that all paperwork is complete, accurate, and documentation deadlines are met
  • 14. Provide 24-hour availability and crisis intervention to supervisees; to clients on an as-needed support basis
  • 15. Participate in supervisor's meetings, staff meetings, agency wide meetings, utilization review meetings, in-service trainings, morale and team building events
  • 16. Arrange work schedule as required including evening hours coverage to the benefit of the outpatient department as directed by management
  • 17. Comply with agency guidelines, policies and procedures
  • 18. Comply with applicable professional licensing requirements and ethical standards including maintaining required supervision CE hours
  • 19. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
