Job summary

Prime Healthcare’s Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago seeks a Clinical Nursing Supervisor for the Psych Unit – Adult Males. You will direct daily unit operations, assign staff, triage admissions, balance workloads, and lead interdisciplinary rounds.

This full-time, days shift (7a–7:30p) includes rotating weekends/holidays, with a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates and a competitive Total Rewards package.

Qualifications

• Active RN license required.
• BSN preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certification on hire.
• Minimum two years of clinical nursing with supervisory exposure.
• CCR​N/NRP are a plus.

Clinical Leadership & Operations

• Directed daily unit operations (Charge Nurse): Assign staff to patients, triage admissions, balance workloads, and lead interdisciplinary rounds.
• Supported department operations (Clinical Supervisor): Schedule Management, coordinate onboarding, perform chart audits, and assist with hiring needs
• Provided frontline leadership: Manage escalations, fill staffing gaps, and ensured continuity of care and operations.

Responsibilities

The Clinical Nursing Supervisor supports administrative responsibility for the department service functions and works collaboratively with the unit Director and/or Manager. In the absence of the unit Director and/or Manager, the Clinical Supervisor may assume the administrative scope of the unit assigned. Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current federal and/or state regulations. The Clinical Supervisor prepares, conducts and/or oversees department(s) orientation and training of personnel. Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration both written and verbally. The Clinical Supervisor is responsibility and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift. Assists the Department Director in the daily operations of the unit, directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel, ensuring the proper use of time, equipment and staff. Ensure the efficient functions of the department. Performs direct patient care, only as needed, within the scope of practice. Continually assess care and direct staff to make immediate changes in the plan of care.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• 1. Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
• 2. Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• 3. Current Basic Life Support certificate (BLS) upon hire and maintain current.
• 4. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire and maintain current.
• 5. Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.

FACILITY / UNIT TRAINING

• 1. Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate preferred for Intensive Care.
• 2. Non-OB Facilities – NRP Required 90 days after hire and maintained.
• 3. Professional Certification within 2 years of hire, preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $41.00 to $64.09. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
