Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago, IL seeks a Clinical Nursing Supervisor for the Behavioral Health, Male Floor. This full-time days role offers 7:00 am–7:30 pm shifts with a pay range of $41.00 to $64.09 per hour.

The supervisor provides administrative leadership, develops plans, orients staff, and coordinates with the unit director to maintain care quality. Requires active RN license; BSN preferred, BLS/ACLS on hire, and at least 2 years nursing with supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BSN degree preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required on hire.
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing with 1 year supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports administrative responsibility for department functions and collaborates with the unit Director/Manager.
• In absence of Director/Manager, may assume administrative scope of the unit.
• Develops/implements departmental plans including performance improvement and regulatory compliance.
• Prepares and oversees orientation/training of personnel.
• Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration in writing and verbally.
• Ensures quality of staff and function during the shift.
• Assists Director in daily unit operations, directing/supervising staff.
• Ensures efficient department operations and proper use of time/equipment.
• Performs direct patient care as needed within scope of practice.
• Continually assess care and direct staff to adjust plans as needed.

Responsibilities

The Clinical Nursing Supervisor supports administrative responsibility for the department service functions and works collaboratively with the unit Director and/or Manager. In the absence of the unit Director and/or Manager, the Clinical Supervisor may assume the administrative scope of the unit assigned. Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current federal and/or state regulations. The Clinical Supervisor prepares, conducts and/or oversees department(s) orientation and training of personnel. Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration both written and verbally. The Clinical Supervisor is responsibility and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift. Assists the Department Director in the daily operations of the unit, directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel, ensuring the proper use of time, equipment and staff. Ensure the efficient functions of the department. Performs direct patient care, only as needed, within the scope of practice. Continually assess care and direct staff to make immediate changes in the plan of care.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
• Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support certificate (BLS) upon hire and maintain current.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.

FACILITY / UNIT TRAINING

• Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate preferred for Intensive Care.
• Non-OB Facilities – NRP Required 90 days after hire and maintained.
• Professional Certification within 2 years of hire, preferred.
