Job description

Overview

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Practice and supported by the Assistant Professor for Clinical Practice, the Clinical Supervisor is a part-time, university-based, clinical supervision coach who supports and provides ongoing professional development for P-12 clinical faculty. The Clinical Supervisor works collaboratively with P-12 mentors and future educators to ensure high-quality educator preparation aligned with state and national best practices. Additionally, the Clinical Supervisor is committed to actions aligned with the Touro values.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to high-quality and successful clinical supervision for future educators and P-12 mentors.
  • Work with school administrators to identify, co-select, and supervise school-based mentors.
  • Facilitate P-12 mentor development sessions in a professional learning community model.
  • Collaborate with P-12 mentors to participate in structured Pre-Observation, Observation, Post-Observation (POP) cycles utilizing Touro GSE established assessment instruments.
  • Assist P-12 mentors with the coordination of seminars to enhance pedagogical skills.
  • Conduct conferences with P-12 mentors and future educators during clinical experiences to discuss progress, set development goals, and calibrate performance ratings.
  • Support P-12 mentors in collecting and analyzing performance data related to clinical practice.
  • Observe and provide feedback to P-12 mentors during clinical practice to support their effectiveness.
  • Serve as the university's faculty of record for student teaching/practicum coursework.
  • Engage in scholarly activities and support accreditation and assessment related to clinical practice.
  • Uphold the values and missions of Touro and the GSE.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree in Education or related field; Doctoral Degree preferred.
  • At least three years of successful P-12 classroom teaching experience with diverse students.
  • Experience in assessment and data utilization at the classroom or academic level.
  • Experience in course or program design.
  • Strong expertise in urban education.
  • Teacher Certification in one or more GSE programs.
  • Professional experience with ESL/TESOL, Math, Science, Spanish, or Special Education.
  • Experience teaching at the college level, both face-to-face and online (course evaluations required). Experience with District 75 settings is a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Proven effective clinical supervision skills.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies across core disciplines.
  • Familiarity with Danielson Framework or similar assessment models.
  • Ability to give clear, constructive feedback to improve teaching performance.
  • Skill in modeling and coaching instructional practices and assessment protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building stakeholder relationships.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories.
  • Ability to coach and be coached, demonstrating professionalism.
  • Flexibility to adapt while maintaining program quality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, web-conferencing tools, LMS platforms like Canvas, and data collection tools such as Survey Monkey and Qualtrics.
Travel
  • Travel to schools within the NYC metro area and other locations for site visits.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 5 lbs.
Salary

Maximum: USD $500.00 per student; Minimum: USD $400.00 per student.
