MHC Healthcare has an opportunity for a Clinical Supervisor to manage a Behavioral Health team located at our Counseling and Wellness Center in the heart of Marana, Arizona. This position will be WFH and will manage a WFH team of behavioral health staff. The Clinical Supervisor’s (CS) primary responsibility is the supervision and oversight of the health center Behavioral Health (BH) clinical program and the team’s performance in their clinical duties to ensure the needs of the clients are being met. This position will be providing supervision and therapy services for the Work from Home behavioral health team. Candidate must be licensed in the State of Arizona and reside in the state. MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 14 sites in Tucson and Pima County. The following qualifications are required:

  • Master’s degree in Social Services or related field
  • 2 years’ experience supervising staff
  • 4 years’ experience in Behavioral Health
  • Licensed as an independent practitioner with AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or LISAC ) or as a Psychologist by the AZ Board of Psychologist Examiners
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • First Aid certification (may be completed with MHC upon hire)
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Current Arizona driver’s license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by MHC)

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience with the State Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) system, AHCCCS Complete Care (ACC) health plans, and community resources

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

This position has the following supervisory responsibility:

  • Supervises and monitors performance for an assigned group of employees. Supervisory duties include providing input on hiring and disciplinary actions, overseeing work assignments and quality, scheduling and timekeeping, performance evaluations, and training and development.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of State, RBHA, and ACC requirements and MHC policies.
  • Thorough knowledge of current edition of DSM and ICD.
  • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to cultivate a culture of respect and service excellence through professionalism, skilled communication, and demonstrated commitment to integrity, trust, respect, and equity.
  • Proven effective leadership with demonstrated ability to effectively direct, delegate, motivate, and build high-performing, collaborative teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises BH team to ensure quality of care standards are met in direct services, documentation, and resolution of client issues.
  • Works closely with the health center Integrated Practice Manager (IPM) to ensure a collaborative effort for the appropriate and timely treatment of all clients.
  • Assists in the response to all agency audits by reviewing direct service provider charts to ensure timely assessments and service plans, complete and comprehensive documentation, as well as appropriate service delivery.
  • Provides appropriate documented supervision for each non-independently licensed team member on consistent basis in accordance with state and agency regulation and policy.
  • Maintains a caseload that is manageable but allows for maintenance of supervisory responsibilities regarding programs, staff, and clients.
  • Provides direct client services consisting of therapeutic services to individuals, groups and/or family members, ensuring that contact and documentation are maintained according to guidelines.
  • Monitors group offerings to ensure group therapies and skills groups are appropriate, useful, and discontinued when appropriate; develops new groups as needed.
  • Participates in departmental and team meetings, client staffings, case reviews, staff development, and policy and procedure development as appropriate.
  • Provides, supervises, or assesses office-based, community, or home-based services and crisis intervention services as necessary.
  • Ensures clients receive quality and timely assessments, treatment planning, treatment reviews, RBHA and ACC documentation, discharge planning, and aftercare planning.
  • Assists team members with the navigation of the RBHA/ACC systems.
  • Assists team members with client or system needs as required, ensuring optimal performance of the team.
  • Provides oversight and assists Clinical Director in responding to information identified by the Data Validation audits/reports from ongoing chart audits to ensure quality care is documented in a timely and thorough manner, meeting all guidelines set forth by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS), RBHA, and ACC.
  • Works collaboratively with the Behavioral Health Quality (BHQ) team to identify and address areas of improvement related to documentation in the clinical record.
  • Mentors subordinate BH leadership when applicable.
  • Consistently reviews lag list, report cards, productivity standards, and other monthly and quarterly reports to ensure the team is meeting standards.
  • Mentors and counsels team members who are not meeting required standards.
  • Works with BH leadership and staff for the resolution of conflicts to ensure staff are focused on their responsibilities and client requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison for community and contracting agencies, including attending meetings, completing information reports, and responding to other issues or needs.
  • Oversees clinical requirements for submission of contract deliverables and to ensure utilization and quality management requirements are met.
  • Provides office, community, and home-based services as necessary or requested.
  • Attends to client crises as requested, including assessing crisis, ensuring incidents are documented, and appropriate action is taken.
  • Participates in Adult Recovery Team (ART) meetings as requested or appropriate.
  • Maintains collaboration with local resources, including court personnel, Marana Police Department (MPD), Sheriff’s Department, ALTCS, DES, as well as other Tucson agencies and institutions such as (but not limited to) hospitals, the Crisis Response Center, Community Wide Crisis Line, school districts, and the Mobile Crisis Team (MCT).
  • Accommodates client schedules when providing direct service.
  • Provides appropriate referrals to other community agencies as required.
  • Works collaboratively with psychiatric staff, ensuring all appropriate clients receive medication monitoring, psychiatric evaluations, and Primary Care Provider (PCP) involvement.
  • Works with the Clinical Director and RBHA/ACC to ensure all contract requirements are met.
  • Follows professional and ethical practices when working with clients, client records, families, and community personnel.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and family information.
  • Works effectively with all clients and families to promote trust while providing excellent customer service within a recovery model of care.
  • Understands and implements Trauma Informed Care approach to service delivery.
  • Acts as a willing and effective liaison between BH and other MHC departments, staff, and community members to promote trust, productivity, and growth as a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model of care.
  • Utilizes appropriate channels for reporting, discussing, and solving problems or concerns.
  • Assumes responsibility for understanding guidelines and procedures for all BH contracts and requests clarification when required.
  • Observes applicable state and federal laws, assumes responsibility for knowledge of laws, and requests clarification if necessary.
  • Works collaboratively with the Behavioral Health Quality (BHQ) team to identify and address areas of improvement related to quality service provision as evidenced by documentation in the clinical record.
  • Assists the Behavioral Health Quality Manager in preparation for all agency audits by reviewing charts, ensuring all direct service staff are maintaining accurate and timely client records, including monthly progress reports, service plans, RBHA and ACC documentation, timely contacts, mileage forms, and home visit logs.
  • Maintains general BH and education standards and keeps abreast of BH and educational trends by reading and attending in-services and workshops as appropriate.
  • Uses appropriate incident reporting procedures when documenting unsafe or problematic incidents involving patients, clients, and staff. Completes internal and external Incident Reports accurately and follows procedures completely, ensuring the BHQ Team is actively involved.
