About the Role

The Clinical Supervisor provides day-to-day clinical leadership and supervision for Medical Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, RNs, and other assigned clinical support staff. The position is responsible for staff competency, adherence to approved clinical protocols, nursing standards, patient safety, infection prevention, and effective coordination of clinical care within assigned practices. Working in partnership with providers, and clinical leadership, the Clinical Supervisor supports consistent clinical practice while maintaining limited direct patient care responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a visible, hands‑on presence in clinical areas, working alongside clinical support staff to observe practice, provide real-time coaching and training, assess competency, reinforce clinical standards, and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Schedule assigned staff and approve time off requests to ensure no gaps in care or provider coverage.
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, performance feedback, and accountability for assigned Medical Assistants, LPNs, RNs, and other clinical support staff.
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day delivery of clinical support services within assigned practices and serve as the primary clinical resource for questions involving nursing practice, patient care, or escalation of clinical concerns.
  • Coordinate orientation, onboarding, training, and ongoing competency validation for assigned clinical staff in collaboration with Human Resources, clinical leaders, and subject‑matter experts.
  • Monitor compliance with approved clinical policies, standing orders, protocols, documentation requirements, nursing standards, and applicable scope‑of‑practice requirements.
  • Support safe and consistent triage, rooming, medication administration, clinical procedures, care coordination, and communication of clinical information across the care team.
  • Monitor clinical staffing adequacy and daily clinical assignments; communicate coverage needs or patient‑safety concerns to the Practice Manager and appropriate clinical leadership for resolution.
  • Lead and reinforce infection prevention and control practices, including standard precautions, OSHA requirements, exposure response, staff education, and correction of identified clinical deficiencies.
  • Review clinical incidents, safety concerns, and near misses within assigned areas; ensure immediate clinical follow‑up and elevate matters to Quality, Risk, Compliance, or clinical leadership as appropriate.
  • Partner with providers and Practice Managers to identify and address clinical barriers affecting patient care, care‑team communication, or adherence to established clinical workflows, while preserving operational accountability with practice leadership.
  • Participate in clinical quality‑improvement and patient‑safety initiatives; use audit findings, incident trends, and performance data to strengthen clinical practice and staff competency.
  • Provide direct patient care, including RN visits, triage support, patient education, care coordination, and clinical procedures within the RN scope of practice
  • Maintain current clinical knowledge and competency and model professional nursing practice, sound judgment, respectful communication, teamwork, and patient‑centered care.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, committees, emergency preparedness activities, and other duties consistent with the position’s clinical scope as assigned.
  • Extra duties as assigned
