Job summary

Akumin is hiring a Clinical Staff Specialist for its mobile unit in Raleigh, NC. This full-time role covers patient care during MRI/PET processes, with duties including screening, documentation, IV setup, and monitoring during scans.

Expect responsibilities across patient histories, lab results, infection control, and coordinating care with clinicians. Requires medical certifications or licenses and CPR, plus ability to travel between locations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • EMT, Paramedic, RT or RN certification required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
  • IV proficiency required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists MRI or PET Technologist with patient care including screening and other documents related to the patient’s medical record.
  • Assists patient in entering and exiting facilities; assists patient and family with concern and empathy, respecting confidentiality.
  • Maintains acceptable standards of patient care and accurate recording and reporting.
  • Sets patient IVs in preparation for injection of contrast or radiopharmaceutical; ensures supplies are available.
  • Monitors patients during scans and enters scan data into the computer.
  • Records patient histories, obtains waived lab test results using glucometer or similar device.
  • Supports and enforces infection control procedures.

We are currently hiring for a Clinical Staff Specialist at our mobile unit in Raleigh, NC. This will be a full time position Tues-Friday from 7am - 5pm.

The Clinical Staff Specialist is responsible for peripheral duties pertaining to patient MRI/PET scanning.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists MRI or PET Technologist with patient care including screening and other documents related to the patient’s medical record.
  • Assists patient in entering and exiting facilities; Assists patient and family members with concern and empathy, respecting confidentiality and communicating with them in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Maintains acceptable standards of patient care. Maintains standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting.
  • Sets patient IVs in preparation for injection of contrast or radiopharmaceutical. Arranges to have needed supplies and materials available.
  • Monitors patients during scans, enters scan data into the computer.
  • Records patient histories, obtains waived lab test results using glucometer or

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • A basic level EMT, Licensed Paramedic (EMTP), Registered Technologist or Registered Nurse required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • As applicable, valid driver’s license.
  • IV proficiency required.
  • Ability to work at several locations.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • Local travel may be required.
