Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
• State licensure as SP from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology.
• Ohio State Speech Pathology license.
• CCC-SLP certification from ASHA.
• Completion of a nine-month Clinical Fellowship Year.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic speech pathology test procedures.
• Evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients.
• Interpret and report test results to facilitate medical diagnosis.
• Provide counseling and education about communication and the diagnosis to patients and families.
• Determine therapeutic plans, including therapy needs, frequency, focus, prognosis and duration.
• Select assistive speech devices to improve patient communication.
• Perform re-evaluation to determine progress after therapy.
• Provide observations about hearing and other behaviors to help determine need for other services.
• Maintain records of all services.
• Communicate results and recommendations to referral sources and outside agencies.
