Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System in Georgia seeks a semi-technical laboratory assistant to support multiple functions in the clinical laboratory. You will help ensure specimen validity, execute physician orders, and handle special specimen processing in a fast-paced environment with exposure to bio-hazards.

Essential tasks include receiving and routing samples, communicating with nursing and phlebotomy, and maintaining documentation of processes and QA records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Three years of continuous employment as a lab assistant preferred.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle pneumatic tube station and distribute samples to appropriate departments.
• Coordinate with phlebotomy and nursing for add-ons, reprints, and label corrections.
• Ensure integrity of all submitted clinical specimens and proper routing for outside testing.
• Assist in complex emergencies such as trauma, stroke alerts, and disaster response.
• Maintain QA records and temperature logs; document errors and investigations.
