Job summary

The University of Washington Medicine – Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology in Seattle, WA has a Medical Courier role with our Reference Laboratory Services team. You will pick up and deliver specimens and supplies across Washington state, operating on 7 days per week on 22 routes from three UW locations.

This position requires a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and experience handling biohazardous materials.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of clean driving record.
• Experience handling biohazardous laboratory specimens and familiarity with universal precautions.
• Experience with customer service relations.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Drive a UW vehicle to transport laboratory specimens, reports, supplies and other materials between UWMC and facilities within Washington State.
• Work with biohazardous specimens and adhere to universal precautions.
• Maintain specimen integrity and temperature during transport; ensure correct delivery locations.
• Keep accurate records of route stops and specimens transported.
• Follow UW Fleet Services rules and participate in vehicle maintenance.
• Respond promptly to calls/texts and use Workday and UW systems during shifts.
• Assist in training and sharing knowledge with trainees as assigned.
