Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services seeks a Clinical Social Worker (NS) to provide group therapy for adult patients at Central Regional Hospital, with potential work with younger patients as needed. This role reports to the PST supervisor to ensure evidence-based care and clinical objectives are met.

For eligibility, maintain LCSW licensure, participate in treatment teams, and may supervise students or volunteers, contributing to a trauma‑informed, patient‑centered

Qualifications

• Knowledge of assessment and counseling/therapy principles and their practical application to complex casework, group-work, crisis intervention, and community issues
• Knowledge of social, psychological, and developmental theory, psychopathology, substance abuse, and differential diagnosis; ethical standards and practices of professional social work; and group facilitator skills
• Must demonstrate basic knowledge of trauma informed care as well as psychiatric disorders
• Ability to represent all disciplines of PST in treatment team meetings by making recommendations for treatment goals and interventions and reporting on patient progress in department programs
• Ability to deal competently with conflict and volatile individuals and situations discussing sensitive emotional topics in a supportive, non‑threatening manner
• Ability to speak and write clearly with patients and staff

Responsibilities

• Provide group therapy for adult patients and, if needed, children/adolescents.
• Supervise social work students and/or volunteers during group treatments.
• Function as liaison to a patient care unit and participate in treatment team planning.
• Complete patient enrollment in preferred groups and ensure clinically sound objectives.
