Job summary

Active Care Group is seeking a Clinical Skills Trainer to support our Surrey area. This home-based role involves travel across the Surrey region with occasional overnight stays.

• Up-to-date knowledge of interventions for spinal injuries, ABI, learning disabilities, neurological conditions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication, coaching and organisational skills.
• Proactive and engaging approach to learning and development.
• Willingness to work towards teaching/assessing qualifications or similar driving requirement.

Responsibilities

• Train and assess non-registered staff in mandatory clinical skills (e.g., medication administration, continence care, insulin administration, enteral care).
• Collaborate with nursing team to develop staff clinical skills and competencies.
• Deliver group and one-to-one training sessions as needed.
• Prepare and manage learning environments and resources.
• Keep knowledge updated with current best practices and guidelines.
• Contribute to review of training materials and content.
• Attend team and other meetings as required.
• Pursue CPD and supervision to maintain competence.
• Inform managers of risks affecting patient care or safety.

We are expanding our Clinical Skills team and are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Clinical Skills Trainer to support our South region. In this role, you will work closely with senior leaders in Clinical Training & Development to help drive high standards of clinical practice across our services. Where you'll be working:

37.5 hours Monday - Friday This role is for the Surrey Area. The role is home based with travel across the Surrey area. Occassional overnight stays will be required when necessary.

What you'll be doing:

• Train and assess non-registered staff (Support Workers, HCA, RA and at times Bank Nurses and other relevant staff) in mandatory skills such as Medication administration, Continence Care, insulin administration, bowel management, buccal midazolam, along with medication administered rectally.
• Work with the training and wider nursing team to support the training, development of staff in clinical skills including Neurogenic Bowel Management and competency training
• Train and assess relevant staff in clinical skills such as Suction, Tracheostomy Care, Ventilation, Enteral Feed, Catheterisation etc if required
• Deliver additional group or one to one session as required
• Preparation and management of the learning environment/ resources to maximize the learner experience
• Update specialist knowledge and skills in line with current best practice guidelines
• Contribute to the review of training and development resources and content
• Attend and contribute to team meetings and other meetings as required
• Maintain own knowledge and competence by undertaking appropriate continuing professional development and clinical/nonclinical supervision as needed
• Inform the L&D Manager/Service Manager & relevant others, of any issues that are likely to adversely impact quality of client care and/or health and safety of employees
• Liaise with various departments as needed
• Availability to work away from home with overnight stays

What you'll have:

• Current NMC registration(essential)
• A legal right to work in the U.K.
• Recent experience delivering clinical training within complex caresettings (essential)
• Up to date on best practice for interventions with clients who have spinal injuries, ABI, learning disabilities, neurological conditions
• Independent, self-motivated and able to work with minimal direct supervision
• Strong communication, coaching, and organisational skills
• A proactive, engaging, and supportive approach to learning and development
• Training qualification i.e., Teaching & Assessing award, Mentorship award, Safer People Handling Trainer and /or Assessor, or be willing to work towards Car owner with full UK driving license
