Why M Physicians?

The Clinical Risk Management Consultant's role encompasses key risk management functional areas including risk identification, assistance with risk analysis/trending, assisting with loss prevention/risk reduction, and risk management educational programs for University of Minnesota Physicians. This role serves as a resource for other departments in identifying system and process issues that impact on safe, effective and efficient patient care and employee safety. In addition to providing frontline clinical risk management support to the Risk Management team the Clinical Risk Consultant is a resource, internal consultant, and educator for risk management issues related to patient and visitor behavior concerns and triaging daily Compass/ACT Patient Safety Reports.

What you will do as a Clinical Risk Management Consultant:

• Triage incoming telephone calls, pages, and emails (pager will be assigned for on-call support on an as-needed basis).
• Contact clinical staff or providers as needed on a case-by-case basis.
• Manage the documentation of open cases.
• Review Compass and ACT behavior events.
• Assist clinic leaders with Partnership in Care Agreements (PICA) and Termination of Care (TOC) process
• Review reports to identify cases related to falls and non-compliant patients that may require follow-up by assigned clinics.

• Assist team members as needed with Patient/Visitor, Patient Safety, and Threat Assessments

• In-person and virtual visits to UMP owned and managed ambulatory clinics and ambulatory surgery centers to deliver UMP risk management education to providers, clinic leadership, and/or clinic staff.

What you will need:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration with a health care focus or related field.

• Understanding of health care delivery, risk management and patient safety principles obtained from 2-3+ years of health care, risk management/patient safety or patient service experience.
• Strong Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other related computer skills.
• Ability to multi-task. Knowledge of an electronic medical record system.

Location: 720 Washington Ave. SE, Minneapolis MN. Remote position - MN residents ONLY.

Compensation:

84,344.00 - 122,284.00 USD Annual
