Job description

Position Summary

This fully remote PRN Clinical Research Specialist position will support radiology research efforts, focusing on coordinating imaging studies and research workflows. The role involves managing patient coordination for CCIR studies, facilitating imaging transfers to Case Western and other collaborating institutions, and assisting with multiple IRB-approved studies. The position is ideal for individuals with strong organizational skills and attention to detail who are interested in the logistics of research execution. This role is part of a broader effort to streamline research efficiency and reduce administrative barriers to study completion.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate CCIR research patients (remotely helping the on-site patient coordinators), including scheduling, billing oversight, and compliance with research protocols.
  • Manage imaging transfers between WashU and external institutions (e.g., Case Western) for ongoing research collaborations.
  • Assist with IRB-approved studies, ensuring research protocols are followed and documentation is properly maintained.
  • Communicate with research teams, radiologists, and external collaborators to facilitate smooth research operations.
  • Maintain study records and ensure regulatory compliance with institutional and funding requirements.
  • Assists in protocol development, budget development, dispensing of study funds for multi-clinical research projects; provides high level of direct and indirect support direct.
  • Works with PI to design, perform and evaluate research procedures; confers with PI to assist in developing plans for research projects and discuss the interpretation of results; collaborates in the preparation of manuscripts for publications and preparation of grant proposals to sponsoring agencies; assists in the preparation of amendments to protocols and/or modifications to study design as appropriate.
  • Serves as a resource to the clinical research staff, ensuring appropriate procedures and explains policies and procedures; ensures that research projects are completed according to IRB and federal guidelines.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures; provides comprehensive direction to clinical research personnel; may participate in the hiring, training and evaluation of clinical research staff.
  • Provides Study Coordinator functions and performs all duties associated with the coordination and implementation of clinical research study/projects, data collection and the management of data generated by study protocols.
  • Researches and recommends new methods and procedures to maintain standards and improve quality.

Salary Range

$32.73 - $50.74 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
