A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversees, designs, plans, and develops clinical evaluation research studies independently with general supervision.
  • Communicate and coordinate study activities between study sponsor, site research coordinators, study investigators, working closely with Clinical Research Manager and/or Project Coordinators
  • Prepares with and authors protocols and patient record forms.
  • Conducts registered and non-registered clinical studies of products that have been determined to satisfy a medical need and/or offer commercial potential.
  • Oversees and interprets results of clinical investigations in preparation for new drug, device, or consumer application.
  • Oversees and resolves operational aspects of clinical trials in conjunction with project teams and in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP), good clinical practice (GCP), and specific country regulations, and may prepare clinical trial budgets.
  • Perform daily clinical site activity such as site initiation, protocol training, study metrics, tracking, and reporting
  • May be responsible for clinical supply operations, site, and vendor selection.
  • People working within a region/country may also have the responsibilities that include:
  • Represents Medtronic from a clinical research perspective within the country/region and also collects feedback from local customers and authorities.
  • Builds and maintains optimal relationships and effective collaborations with various internal and external parties.
  • Drives local evidence dissemination & awareness.


Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Requires a Baccalaureate degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.


Nice to Have:

  • Relevant experience in clinical research or related field (e.g., research coordinator/sponsor experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., life sciences, health sciences)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in relevant software and systems (e.g., life sciences, health sciences)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$83,200.00 - $124,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
