Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Clinical Research Physician to lead China local development projects, guiding trial strategy and regulatory planning while ensuring high-quality execution and scientific integrity.

The role collaborates with Global & JAPAC teams across Regulatory, Medical Affairs and CDO to align pathways for new compounds and registrations in China, ensuring compliant and efficient development programs.

Qualifications

• Medical Degree with strong medical background in the TA area; 3+ years in medical/clinical development in pharma or equivalent.
• Understanding of development program interactions among Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Development and Commercial objectives.
• Experience in leading multiple diverse clinical development programs is a plus.
• Ability to analyze and summarize scientific/clinical data and develop regulatory-relevant recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Propose development strategies and clinical pathways for new Chinese registrations.
• Act as China Local Development Project Lead to assess new trial opportunities and prioritize diseases/ compounds.
• Design clinical development plans and protocols meeting local regulatory requirements for efficient registration.
• Initiate Development-led medical activities (surveys, Ad Board meetings, KOL visits) to support plans.
• Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs to develop efficient regulatory filing materials and pathways.
• Establish partnerships with Chinese academia and key study centers for planning and execution.
• Provide medical training to CDO and investigators to ensure trial quality and compliance.
• Offer local medical support to global study teams including trial monitoring and data analysis.
• Ensure smooth handover to Medical Affairs for approved indications and launch activities.
• Maintain compliance with national laws, regulations, and AbbVie standards.
